Two Ways To Reap Lean Accounting’s Benefits
New group and upcoming summit open online and in-person opportunities.

Keeping up with the latest in lean accounting just got easier. Lean accounting educator, trainer, consultant, speaker and author Brian Maskell has launched Lean Accounting SuperGroup at http://leanaccounting.ning.com. About 300 people have signed up for the community so far.

Maskell, president of BMA Inc., says the purpose of the group is to be a meeting place for people interested in lean accounting and lean management systems, to share experiences and learn from each other. The group is agnostic to industry and welcomes people and organizations at all levels of lean learning. Some of the components of the online community include (some are for members only):

  • Experts writing monthly blogs.
  • Open forum for questions or conversation starters.
  • A forum for member stories - lessons learned, experiences worth sharing, etc.
  • An area to upload relevant resources such as templates.
  • Calendar of events.
  • Training videos.

Recent topics for discussion include value stream costing, measuring customer value, and maintaining Respect for People during financial downturns.

Maskell and many of the other experts featured in the Lean Accounting SuperGroup will be presenters at the Lean Accounting Summit, Sept. 21-23 in Orlando. The most updated agenda includes presentations by the Dept. of Defense, Boeing, Park Nicollet, Lantech, Miller Fabrication Inc., WMS Gaming, Wahl Clipper and other organizations. Keynote speakers will be George Koenigsaecker and Norman Bodek. The first day of the summit features all-day and half-day professional workshops:
